Pro Tips for Successful Air Freight Shipping

Air freight shipping is one of the best and the fastest methods of sending your packages or other items. Air freight shipping makes it possible for your package to be delivered quickly. You can also send shipments pretty much anywhere in the world when you opt for air freight shipping.
Sending items via air freight doesn’t need to be complicated, especially if you have the right shipping company to help you out. However, you do want to do everything you can to ensure your shipment arrives without issue. As such, you should be prepared to do what it takes to make your shipment a success.
To make sure that your air freight shipment goes off without a hitch so your items are delivered where and when you require, here are a few basic tips:

  • Choose the right shipping company. Not every company offers air freight shipping, and not every company will necessarily offer fast direct air freight shipments to the specific location where you need your items to go. It is especially important to select the right shipping company if you are sending items internationally. However, even in the U.S., the shipping company that you choose is going to make a big difference in whether you shipment is delivered on time, unbroken and where you need it to go.
  • Understand what the requirements are for your shipment. Many different things are sent via air freight, such as documents or gifts or even perishable items. If you are sending something that has special shipping requirements- like a perishable item that absolutely must be delivered on time and that must be packaged in a certain way – you should talk to your shipper about what you need to do.  Likewise, if you are sending an air freight shipment into a different country, you need to understand the paperwork and customs requirements that may have to be met for your shipment.
  • Package your shipment carefully. Breakable items should be wrapped carefully and secured, while all items need to be carefully packaged in an appropriate size box or envelope. The package should be carefully sealed and you should generally use tape in order to seal it, rather than twine or rope. Twine or rope can become caught in sorting machines or on other packages and could unravel, leaving your shipment unprotected.
  • Address your item carefully. You want the address to be visible and the address to be legible. If the address cannot be read, then your shipment might be delayed or returned to you or even lost entirely if you did not include a return address on your package.
  • Choose the right shipping speed. Depending upon where your item is going, you could send it via overnight shipment when you opt for air freight or you could send it via a shipping method that takes a few days to arrive. Make sure you opt for the correct speed so your shipment can arrive when you need it to.

By following these basic air freight shipping tips, you can ensure that your shipment gets to where you need it to go.

  1. We're looking into the sizes right now. I wonder if we will be able to fit everything we need in one shipment on these freight shipping containers. Maybe we need to go down and check them out ourselves.
